YATTA is the solo project of Sierra Leonean-American vocalist, composer, and sound artist, ricky sallay zoker.

Their debut EP, Spirit Said Yes! was released on New York label PTP (Purple Tape Pedigree) and planted their stake in the city’s underground music scene, where over the years they’ve shared stages with a range of artists from Dreamcrusher and Beverly Glenn-Copeland to Cardi B and The Sun Ra Arkestra.

YATTA’s poetry album, WAHALA, served as the foundation for An Episode: Ricky’s Room, a self-written and performed theatrical production commissioned by New York cultural center The Shed. Released to critical acclaim WAHALA was named one of Fact Magazine’s 25 Best Albums of 2019 and one of Pitchfork’s Best Experimental Albums of 2019.

YATTA’s most recent release, DIAL UP, is a collaborative album with poet, musician, and frequent collaborator, Moor Mother.

In 2022, their song "Fully Lost, Fully Found" was featured in the film "Nanny," which won Sundance.

Over the years, YATTA has performed in festivals like New Forms, Sonic Acts, and Les Urbaines, as well as at institutions like MOMA PS1, MOMA, MOCA, and The Getty. Their music has been featured in magazines like Pitchfork, Nylon, and Broadcast Mag.

They graduated with an MFA in Music/Sound from Bard College and are former artist-in-residence at Pioneer Works, Otion Front, Elsewhere Museum, and the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation.
